From the Deputy Principal

Greetings, Kia ora, Namaste, Ni Hao, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Kia orana, Ni sa bula vinaka, Salam

Dear parents and caregivers,

This time of year is a really busy time at school. Teachers are working on their students’ end of year reports, beginning their practices for our Christmas Whanau Day and keeping their teaching programmes going! This spring weather is also a challenge for the coaches as they prepare our athletics sports teams for the Papatoetoe Schools Athletics Zone competition next week.

Maori Whanau Evening: A big thank you to the families who came to our Maori Whanau evening last week.   We really appreciate the positive support you provide while we all work towards the best outcomes for your children.

Open Morning: Another thank you to all the parents and extended whanau who attended our open morning early in the term. We really enjoy having you visit the classrooms and joining in with the students.

Travelwise: On Tuesday our Travelwise students worked with the NZ Police and Auckland Transport. They were rewarding drivers who were travelling at or under the appropriate speed when passing our school.  A few drivers were pulled over and reminded of the correct speed.   There is a survey to be completed. Please see more information about this below.

PTA Sausage Sizzle: The PTA had a successful sausage sizzle fundraiser on Tuesday. Our thanks go to Shara Henderson and Paul Ralph from the PTA and their special helpers on the day, Rachel Walia and Aioi Ioana- Brown.

Papatoetoe Central School Market Day: Our Market Day is taking place on Thursday 27 November – one of the highlights on our school calendar. All the students are making a range of products to sell, and they will also have the opportunity to buy products from the stalls during the afternoon. The stalls will then be open for parents and caregivers from 2:30pm when you are most welcome to come along and purchase the many different products.

Some of the items for sale are play dough, bookmarks, popcorn, Christmas cards, jar vases, holiday gift tags, iced animal biscuits, recycled crayons, loom bands and Christmas treats. The proceeds from our Market Day sales go towards our ‘seeding fund’ for 2015.

Have a lovely weekend with your special children.

Go the All Blacks!

Kind regards

Susan Fidler

Deputy Principal
