Greetings, Kia ora, Namaste, Ni Hao, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Kia orana, Ni sa bula vinaka, Salam

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

As this is the last newsletter of the term, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and to wish you all the best for the school holidays. The children have worked hard and we are hoping that they will come back to school after the break refreshed and ready for lots more hard work during the final term of the year.

After School Indoor Soccer: We were treated to a very exciting grand final between our school teams on Monday afternoon. Teams from our school, Papatoetoe Seventh Day Adventist School and Allan Brewster After School Care Programme competed over the term, culminating in grand finals day this week. Special thanks to coach Peter Robinson who coached our teams through to the final. Our City team beat our United team with a 1-0 victory. It was quite pulsating and very competitive. It was great to see many families along in support.

Zone Gymnastics: Special thanks go to Alex Hanson and Becky Hamilton who coached our gymnastics team this term, culminating in the cluster tournament on Tuesday. We achieved some great personal bests and our students represented our school very well. Please note the results in the next section of today’s newsletter.

Lauren Boyle: After Lauren’s incredible swimming successes in August, Ross McGowan, our Associate Principal dropped her a line and invited her to come along and speak to us at a school assembly. We were treated to a very inspiring address from Lauren. She had some terrific messages for our students. You may wish to read my blog on EdTalk NZ – Stuart Middleton’s website where I have outlined the key messages from Lauren’s talk.

World Teachers’ Day, 5 October: I am sure you will support World Teachers’ Day on Saturday 5 October. This is an international celebration of teachers and their very important work. At our school, I believe that we have very committed and talented teachers who work very hard for your children. Let’s hear it for teachers!

All the best for a wonderful weekend and for the school holidays. Our amazing Papatoetoe library always provides interesting holiday programmes for children and it is right on our doorstep! We will look forward to welcoming children back on Monday 14 October.

Kindest regards,

Marilyn Gwilliam
Principal
