Dear Parents and Caregivers,

The final week of term 3 is almost upon us! It’s been a very busy term indeed. We are looking forward to better weather so our students can enjoy all of their break times outdoors.

Gymnastic Zones: Our gymnasts have been preparing for the Papatoetoe Schools gymnastic competition that will take place next Tuesday. Students who have been selected to take part will bring a notice home and as well as information about the timeline of the competition.

National Costume Day: As a finale to our Hindi Language week we are having a special National Costume Day tomorrow. All of our students are encouraged to wear a costume from their heritage. We always enjoy the lovely spectacle of our students in traditional dress.

Graduate Teacher Trainees: Next term we will have 7 trainee teachers from the University of Auckland in our classrooms. These graduates will be in school for the first 5 weeks of term 4. We take pride in supporting the faculty of education and being involved in the preparation of the next generation of teachers.

Calendars, Cards and Diaries: Students are working hard to complete their calendar artwork before the end of term. The order forms will be sent home with each student next week. Please check at the office if you do not receive an order form. The student’s artwork can be viewed in their classroom before or after school. There are some sample calendars, cards and diaries available for viewing at the office. Your child’s artwork will be laser copied so multiple calendars can be ordered using the same piece of artwork. The calendars and cards are a wonderful Christmas present idea for extended family members. Orders and payment are required before the artwork can be made into calendars or cards. The orders need to be in by Monday October 28 so processing can be completed in good time. We are looking forward to your support with this excellent fundraiser.

Have a lovely weekend with your special children. I am sure many of you will be watching the America’s Cup racing tomorrow – Go Emirates Team New Zealand!

Tips from the PCS Environment & Sustainability Team: There are a number of simple steps we can all take to save water and power and Reduce, Reuse and Recycle much of the waste that is produced in our school and at home. Spring is a good time to plant potatoes, sweet corn, radishes, lettuces, celery and spring onions in your garden so you can eat it in summer. Don’t forget to buy your worm tea from Reception. It is great for adding nutrients to the soil to help your veges and pot plants grow.
