Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We have already reached the end of Term 1 after a very busy and successful term of learning at Papatoetoe Central School. I am sure you will join me in thanking the wonderful staff at PCS for all their work in planning and providing stimulating learning experiences for your children. During the 2 week break, it is a good idea to keep your children practicing their reading and writing skills – visiting the library, helping parents write a shopping list, sending an email to a friend or family member about a special holiday activity, making a plan for a family outing – and to enjoy some outdoor pursuits before we reach the winter weather. Let’s hope the Blues keep on their winning ways during the break…and maybe the Mystics will finally get a win.

Dear parents and caregivers,

Our wonderful late summer continues. Our staff and students are maximising the opportunity to ensure a robust fitness and sport programme for all students on our school field and at the Papatoetoe pools. During break times it is so good to see children outside racing around and making the most of the warm and dry conditions. I believe that their physical fitness levels are much higher than they were at this time last year, as a result. Our winter sports teams have been selected and they are already practising for next term’s events.

Dear parents and caregivers,

School Charter: All state schools were required by the Ministry of Education to have their charters in for approval by 1 March this year. We have not received any feedback on ours yet, so I am unable to print a final copy for viewing that we always make available for you in the school office. In the meantime, you can be assured that we are continuing to focus on the learning of all students and we are providing relevant and targeted programmes tailored to their learning needs. Each year one of our strategic goals is to enhance our community relationships and we want you all to know how important that is to us. We really value your communication with our teachers, administration team and our senior leadership team. Please keep in touch with us and in turn we will contact you, if necessary. Thank you for your support.
