From the Principal

Greetings, Kia ora, Namaste, Ni Hao, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Kia orana, Ni sa bula vinaka, Salam

Dear parents and caregivers,

The term is racing by and teachers are completing end of year assessments and students’ reports. I am delighted with the progress that most students have made over the year and I am looking forward to seeing all reports for signing, shortly. All our staff have worked very hard to ensure that your children have reached their optimum achievement levels.

Year 6 Camp: Year 6 students, staff and a very energetic group of wonderful parents and other family members are having a superb week out at Carey Park. It is a wonderful camp and when I visited yesterday, it was great to see everyone having a super time. They arrive back at school around 2.00pm on Friday. I suspect they may all sleep very well on Friday night.

Whanau Day – Wednesday 12 December. We look forward to seeing you here on the 12th December for the annual Christmas concerts and whanau picnic lunch. You will all be very welcome to bring a picnic and have lunch with your children. You are welcome to bring a cushion to sit on for your comfort at the concerts in the hall.

Times are:

  • Junior concert (Year 1-3): 11.45am in the hall
  • Picnic lunch: 12.40pm
  • Senior Concert (Year 4-6): 1.45pm in the hall

All the best for the weekend. I hope that you can have some special time with your special children. If the lovely weather holds, I imagine you will have some lovely outdoor activities in mind.

Kindest regards

Marilyn Gwilliam
Principal

Tips from the PCS Environment & Sustainability Team: There are a number of simple steps we can all take to save water and power and Reduce, Reuse and Recycle much of the waste that is produced in our school and at home. GO BUY LOCAL: Consider the amount of pollution created to get your food from the farm to your table. Whenever possible, buy from local farmers or farmers’ markets, supporting your local economy and reducing the amount of greenhouse gas created when products are flown in to NZ. Don’t forget November is 5+ A Day month. Remember to keep eating at least 5 handfuls of fruit and vegetables a day to keep us healthy.

Tips from the TravelWise – Road Safety: Stop chaos at the school gate -Never stop on yellow lines or double-park around the school. Parking like this can block the view of children and motorists. Park safe and protect our children.
